I began my art career with a Diploma in Graphic Design and worked in a design studio in Perth WA from 1973. Over the next 40 plus years I worked in and produced art work for a wide range of industries. I started my own marketing and design business in 1994 and along this ‘commercial’ journey, created fine art pieces for exhibition and commissions.
I love printmaking in many forms, especially linocut, and also produce drawings often in coloured pencil, with a new 2024 series focussed on Albany landscape glimpses in conte pencil. I work in mixed media pieces in both 2D and 3D forms including producing Artist’s Books. Living in Albany my inspiration comes from the natural world around me.
I have twice won a Great Southern Art Award for my printmaking, and exhibit in various WA exhibitions.
I have a focus on endangered flora and fauna species of the region, rendering these in linocuts, drawings, etchings, books, often with poetry to accompany the images. A major influence is still my four years spent as a Guide for the Art Gallery of WA. A percentage of all my arts sales is donated to a number of environmental protection organisations.
I teach art classes in the region, mainly from my own home studio – The Merry Press – where I make and show my works. I regularly teach for Albany Summer School too. Visitors are welcome to my studio by Appointment.
Overlooking Princess Royal Harbour in Little Grove, I am reminded every day of the beauty and joy that art brings us.
