Mangano, Gemma
When producing art, I like to create pieces that are beautiful to look at and that contain an element of story-telling but that are realised with simplicity. Through my portraits, I hope to convey an atmosphere of stillness and vulnerability and to connect deeply with the viewer. My aim is to transcend the limitations of the artistic materials – the paint and the two-dimensional surface – in order to communicate with the viewer and to speak to them at their core.
I seek to explore themes of loss, sacrifice, love, alienation and other similar content. Although my primary focus is portraiture, I also enjoy producing small landscapes and still-life paintings.
