Kozisek, Indigo
My practice centres around acrylic and gouache, mediums I return to for their immediacy and ability to carry colour with intensity. I am drawn to bright, energetic works that take up space and command attention, often exploring how colour, form, and history can coexist on the same surface.
My current body of work is inspired by Greek-style vases, reimagined with flowing flora that spills outward in bold, opposing tones. This dialogue between ancient motifs and contemporary expression is driven by my love of history, which has always informed and enriched my creative process. I see the vase not only as a vessel but as a symbolic space for narrative—its surface becomes a site where structure, ornament, and energy converge.
In the past, my works leaned heavily toward abstraction, relying on strong lines and vivid colour fields to create impact. These new explorations feel more delicate and detailed, yet also more experimental and freeing. By embracing inconsistency and depth, I have found a rhythm that feels closer to myself—less controlled, more open, and alive with possibility.
What excites me most is the balance between order and fluidity: the tension of historical form meeting expressive gesture, the conversation between discipline and spontaneity. Each work becomes a meeting point of past and present, detail and expansiveness, tradition and play.
