I am predominantly a landscape artist working in all mediums. I enjoy painting plein air, in a studio, or anywhere, actually, as painting is my voice. I use natural materials from country, incorporating them into my works and usually let the painting tell me what it wants to be. Sounds crazy, I know, but it is simply the truth. I feel, at times, that I am merely the conduit rather than the conductor in my work and happily let go, wondering what will come through. My work tends to be highly textural and slightly abstract. Still, the storyline is the motivation behind my art, and I feel at this stage in my life a need to paint the story of old-growth forests, to be their voice and bring awareness to us, the people, the importance of nature and the impact of its loss. The natural world is at a critical point, and we, unfortunately, are to blame. I aim to open the eyes of the world to the plight of the planet and give a voice to the remaining forests and the importance of old growth. To live in general, we all need to breathe. My mantra is No Trees, No Water, No Life. I hope I am helping us all.
